Even serieus: die out of office reply is echt het laatste wat je nog even doet voordat je aan het eind van een lange werkdag voor de vakantie je pc uit ramt. Fout? Fout.
Ga er even voor zitten en kijk of je de verplichte automatische mededeling in je e-mail niet wat persoonlijker kunt maken, en vooral: klantgericht en in overeenstemming met het image van je bedrijf. Zet die autoreply eens aan en stuur jezelf een mail. Lees dan de out of office reply die je onmiddellijk terugkrijgt door de ogen van een klant of relatie.
-Is er een aanhef, en is die niet te formeel of juist te losjes?
-Als je belooft je e-mail ‘sporadisch’ te checken, weet je wel zeker dat je die belofte ook kunt nakomen en verzoeken/vragen kunt opvolgen? En denk erom: work hard, play hard, rest hard.
-Als een achtervang wordt vermeld (alleen ‘bij dringende vragen’ trouwens? Bestaan er dan andere?), is die goed vindbaar (telefoonnummer, e-mail) en op de hoogte?

5. Practical joke
‘The email server is unable to verify your server connection.
Your message has not been delivered. Please restart your computer and try sending again.’
6. Eerlijk en oprecht
‘I will be out of the office and returning next week. I have incredibly easy access to a phone and email, but I assure you, it will not be used for work purposes.’
7. Filosofisch
‘I am out of the office at the moment. Unfortunately, I’m returning tomorrow.’
8. Pesterig
‘I’m not really out of the office. I’m just ignoring you.’
9. Stoer
‘On a beach, no laptop, no phone. Back [datum].’
